I usually don't share personal stuff like this, but I wanted you to know something. On April 15 (of all days!) I will be in court for a hearing/trial about my constitutional challenge to the Florida statute requiring the SSN for a driver license. It may be silly to many, but I sincerely believe that Revelation prohibits me from using the number without which I cannot buy or sell. Well, I cannot buy a driver license without the SSN, among many other things. In 2007, when I received in the mail from the DMV the mail-in renewal form, I wrote on the application my religious objection to the use of the SSN. Promptly, they returned my money order and application stating I did not qualify for a mail-in renewal (that was not true). During an accident last year for which I was not charged, the trooper cited me for driving without a license. I showed him all my documents supporting my religious position, and he said he had never seen that defense ever used before. Because the State is not seeking jail time, although I initially was adjudicated indigent, the PD assigned to me could no longer represent me. When I sought indigency status for litigation costs, the judge denied it because he is withholding adjudication on the jail time. So, now I have to pay for subpoenas and witness expenses, among other things. Those witnesses which I want to call at trial are all DMV employees (hostile witnesses). Just found out that the Palm Beach Sheriff's office lost my subpoena for one of my witnesses. I had to send them my copy via email. He will be serving it tomorrow morning, two days before trial!!!!
