I was duly challenged and sure enough I was wrong, oh I know what you are saying, but it’s true, I was wrong lol.
When you google the case many and I mean many misquote just like I did. However, when you read this interesting case, I believe you will agree.
A previous email “Are you a U.S. citizen” I unknowingly allowed the misuse of quotations in a case shown here:
THIS CASE CAME AFTER THE 14TH AMENDMENT: "The term resident and citizen of the United States is distinguished from a Citizen of one of the several states, in that the former is a special class of citizen created by Congress." U.S. v. Anthony 24 Fed. 829 (1873)
It should have read:
clearly the term resident and citizen of the United States is distinguished from a Citizen of one of the several states, in that the former is a special class of citizen created by Congress. see U.S. v. Anthony 24 Fed. 829 (1873)
I must apologize my mistake and sure it won’t be my last.
